Stephen Cunningham

Player Advisor/Sports Psychologist

Stephen Cunningham brings one of the most well-rounded backgrounds in the game to his work as a Player Advisor with Center Ice Player Management. A former Junior A standout in both the NAHL and BCHL, his playing career reached its peak when he won the Royal Bank Cup — Canada's National Junior A Championship — scoring the game-winning goal in the final. From there, he went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level with the University of Denver before finishing his career at Manhattanville University, where he continued to deepen his understanding of the game and grow as a leader.

After hanging up his skates, Cunningham channeled his passion for development into coaching. He founded a high school hockey program in Colorado and built Husky Hockey School, a training business where he worked with athletes on skill development, performance habits, and the mental side of competing. His approach was never just about technique — it was about building players who could handle the demands of the game at every level.

That commitment to the whole athlete extends beyond the ice as well. Cunningham holds a Master's degree in Applied Sports Psychology and is the founder of GRND Mindset Co., where he works with athletes on confidence, resilience, focus, and mental toughness. It's a dimension of development that most advisors simply don't offer — and one that sets his players apart.

At Center Ice Player Management, Cunningham draws on everything — his playing résumé, his coaching experience, and his expertise in mental performance — to help athletes navigate the junior and collegiate hockey pathways with a clear head and a real plan. His goal is the same for every player he works with: long-term success, on and off the ice.
